Denden Karadeniz (Netherlands, 1990) is a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer and founder of Zero Dance Theatre: the first hip hop / contemporary fusion company in the Netherlands that excels in floorwork technique. A unique mix of various dance styles and dance backgrounds that come together in a very physical movement language. After his dance degree he trained further in Los Angeles (Club House) and Australia (Australian Dance Theatre) to get the best of both worlds. With his roots in the battle scene, experience on television and love for theatre he created his own unique Floorwork technique (Zero) based on a mix of breakdance and contemporary, which he now teaches at Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts in Amsterdam and around the world.

F(R)ICTIE - NEW ADVENTURES 2022 #1

In F(r)ictie, Denden starts from a Japanese proverb: "Fall down seven, stand up eight," which means that every time life throws you a bad fit, you get back up and keep going. Inspired by the mysterious oasis of a desert, by the energy generated by friction, he experiments with choreographic elements such as time, repetition, group work versus the individual. Denden continues to explore his dynamic and highly physical movement language as a metaphor for life in this day and age, in a society that seems to be a succession of friction and fiction, of trial and error, of falling and standing up again.

‘Past, Present, Zero’ gaat over verleden, heden en toekomst. Hoe beïnvloedt het verleden de keuzes van vandaag en morgen?

Choreograaf en artistiek leider van Zero Dance Theatre, Denden Karadeniz, combineert breakdance met hedendaagse dans tot Urban Contemporary. Hij werd bekend bij het grote publiek door zijn deelname aan tv-programma's als The Ultimate Dance Battle, So You Think You Can Dance en Time to Dance.

Denden begon als breakdancer. Na de dansacademie verdiepte hij zich in Los Angeles en Australië in de combinatie van breakdance en hedendaagse dans. Met zijn roots in de urban battle scene, commerciële ervaring op televisie en zijn liefde voor theater draagt hij zijn visie verder met zijn eigen dansgezelschap.

Zero Dance Theatre is Nederlands eerste Urban Contemporary dansgezelschap. Het combineert een schat aan diverse dansstijlen en achtergronden tot een uniek fysiek bewegingsidioom.
