A duet about the male and female energy in all of us, and about the changing dominance between the two.

Remy Tilburg and Emma Evelein created this duet for the RIDCC Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition in 2021. It was selected from over 400 entries from 62 countries and reached the finals. It won the Partnering Award from the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT).

I WANT TO BITE YOUR FLESH AND SEE IF IT BLEEDS

I want to bite your flesh and see if it bleeds is a quest for how we can merge with the other. Inspired by rave culture and sweat, this presentation takes you on a journey into how to transcend ourselves: from cannibalism to circus and from techno to wrestling.

WHAT LIES BENEATH

In What Lies Beneath, theatre maker Veerle van Overloop takes issue with and exposes the destructive force of the limited and simplistic news reporting of our media today. With its topical theatre script melded together with unpolished dance, a striking soundscape, live graffiti and video art, What Lies Beneath manages to really get under your skin. It is a confrontational documentary performance about major wars and atrocities that don’t make the news, the netherworld between fact and fiction, and the power of our leaders and economy.

Moving Futures Festival is an initiative of Theater aan de Rijn, ICK Dans Amsterdam / ICK Artist Space, DansBrabant, Dansateliers, Korzo, Grand Theatre Groningen.

European Dancehouse Network - Atelier

THE BODY OF SKILL AND OPPORTUNITY: EQUITY THROUGH EMBODIED PRACTICES

There is lots to be discussed while diving into the notion of equity. But how does it take shape in practice?

During a three-day Atelier (17-19 May), part of the European Dancehouse Network programme, we explore different attempts at approaching equity as an integral part of dance practices. Dance artists Connor Schumacher, Jija Sohn and Aleksandra Lemm, and Christian Guerematchi each curate a day and were given the opportunity to invite other artists. The Atelier focusses on sharing embodied practices and tools for working from a (more) equitable ground. During the Atelier the invited artists will share their tools in practising and embodying equity - e.g. in the way we organise ourselves professionally and in artistic choice making. During the course of the three days, we will awaken our soft skills and explore through them tools for inviting and exercising equitability in the context and relation of our moving bodies before arriving into our own bodies and artistic choice-making.

For this Atelier we invite dance artists as well as cultural professionals working in the performing arts to actively participate in these shared embodied explorations.
