Research creates space. For experimentation, reflection and innovation in the art form of dance. At ICK Amsterdam, we have acquired a wealth of knowledge about dance notation, documentation and the transfer of knowledge. We share this knowledge through lectures, workshops, publications, international conferences and European projects with researchers from dance and the sciences.

ICK has maintained our own artistic archive for 25 years. We enrich our creative processes with knowledge from research. We share that knowledge with the artists of ICK Artist Space and apply it to our educational activities. Research links dance as a source of physical knowledge to other art forms and areas of knowledge and provides new perspectives on the relationship between body and mind.

We collaborate with the various art academies (AHK, Fontys, Codarts, ArtEZ, KABK). ICK Academy is also in close contact with psychologists, neuroscientists, philosophers, composers, visual artists and programmers. We attach great value to our ties with national and international universities and research centres such as the UvA, Leiden University/ACPA, Utrecht University, Coventry University, Hochschule Mainz and ZhDK in Zurich.
