The Guest Artists pillar stands for the artistic dialogue between the other and ourselves. Within the Guest Artists programme of the International Choreographic Arts Centre (ICK), collaborations are set up with and between artists and institutions, art forms, science and cultures. Curiosity for the other is its first condition.
For such exchange of residents and passers-by, ICK offers a creative space. A lively meeting place for renowned artists and talented beginners. Makers and thinkers may work there on their own projects but may also use their experience and ideas to serve others with critical reflection and practical advice. The immersion in, and confrontation with the vision of the other cause a fresh wind to blow in one’s own work. Set links and connections that exist within one’s own thought process are tested.
Collaborations and dialogues can take different forms and do not by definition need to result in a concrete, tangible product. The starting point is the ‘open source’ that can be enriching as well as be enriched itself.
There are two formats within the Guest Artists programme: the artist en passant, who is involved with ICKamsterdam for a shorter period, and the artist in residence who intertwines his professional work with ICKamsterdam for a longer period.
