Double Points: Outis the result of the third phase of the continuing collaborative project of Swiss composer Hanspeter Kyburz and choreographers Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten. In their combined research the interaction between dance, music and live electronics takes a central place. Driven by Emio Greco's movements sensors attached to his body produce electronic impulses that transform the live music. After the first performance in 2004 (Dortmund) the original Double Points: + was extended with visual elements by experimental filmmaker Joost Rekveld in 2005 (Paris).
For this new version, with its own title Double Points: Outis, the choreographers and composer are collaborating with the Amsterdam Nieuw Ensemble. The piece contains a dramaturgy based on the story of Odysseus and Penelope and a solo role for soprano. A project that started out as an experiment has now developed into an intriguing interdisciplinary production, which in its turn provides a basis for further development.
Double Points: Outis, that premiered on March 11 2010, is performed by the Nieuw Ensemble conducted by Ed Spanjaard.
